Glass Market: The Choice is Clear

In the competitive world of architectural glass manufacturing, Glass Market stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and customer service. After establishing its Melbourne facility in 2019 in Bayswater North, Glass Market, with its diverse range of high-quality glass products and customer focus approach, aims to make the choice clear.

Glass Market specialises in producing an array of glass solutions, including architectural, safety, security, and specialty glass. Their architectural glass range features energy-efficient glass recognised for superior energy ratings. The safety and security glass products are engineered for enhanced protection, using laminating techniques where required to improve impact and shattering.

Glass Market CEO, Jim Buchan, has an impressive track record, having previously been the CEO of Flat Glass Industries and Solos Glass. Jim’s time at Flat Glass, a publicly listed glass processing company was preceded by many years in the U.K managing glass processing companies. His extensive knowledge of the glass industry has been pivotal in Glass Market's success.

Jim emphasises the company's commitment to quality and service.  He states, “We excel in providing solutions for our customers, glass professionals, that require fast turnarounds and personalised service. Our extensive range of architectural glass products combines innovative energy efficiency, outstanding functionality, and spectacular design flair, which can be seamlessly integrated into projects of any scope."

A cornerstone of Glass Market's success is its focus on personalised service. The company prides itself on delivering products tailored to each project's unique needs. This dedication to customer service is evident in their individualised approach, ensuring every client receives the most attentive and responsive service possible.

Jim highlights this customer-centric philosophy: "We focus on making glazing solutions as easy as possible for our customers. Part of this is our product innovation and regular communication. We are currently introducing further initiatives to enhance our transparency in supply, so customers can have a better experience with improved efficiencies all round.”

Glass Market's relationship with Elegant I.G. is a testament to their commitment to quality and reliability. "We buy our IGU supplies from Elegant I.G.," Jim explains. "Elegant introduced European IGU supplies to Australia – they are the pioneers; they have the most experience, and we trust them. I know that their products are the products we used in Europe."

This partnership helps Glass Market ensure all its products manufactured meet Australian standards; however, Jim notes that the local market is not a level playing field. "All of our products are compliant, but we are competing with overseas and local companies that don't have accreditation or product compliance. Their customers here in Australia, have no idea they are buying substandard glass products. There was far greater compliance oversight when I worked in the U.K. than what is currently in Australia."

With a team of nearly 50 employees, many of whom have worked with Jim in previous roles, the company leverages extensive industry experience and a solid commitment to excellence. "A lot of the team that worked for me at Flat Glass Industries and then Solos are now working with me at Glass Market, which is great, as we are all equally focussed on quality of manufacture and customer satisfaction.  Providing solutions and building respected commercial partnerships enable all parties to be successful.” Jim adds.

Jim envisions Glass Market to continue to lead with quality products and customer service. "We don't focus on volume; we focus on providing the best service” he says. "Our goal is to be big enough to service all our customers effectively but not so large that our service diminishes."
