Glass Rack Strips Application Method For IG

Elegant is now offering 6mm x 25mm Silicone 61meter rubber rolls.  

 The use of this product for customers using IG line of products is for lining the bottom of
finished unit carts. IG units with hot melt butyl used as the secondary seal are prone to sticking
to the finished unit carts. Once the butyl has cooled, there will be minimal tack of the glass unit edge to the
Glass Rack Strip which will allow for easy removal of the unit from the cart for glazing.

 In addition, glass edges should never come into contact with any substrate harder than a standard setting block (85 +/- 5 durometer). Cart liners that are too hard can cause glass edge damage during transportation
of finished IGU’s from the IG department to glazing, especially in factories with rough floor surfaces. Proper
support of the bottom of the IGU will minimize glass edge damage in the factory.

 To install the strips:
A. Make sure the mounting surface is clean, dry and reasonably flat.
B. Gun a 3mm bead of silicone to the mounting surface. Silicone has the best adhesion to cured silicone rubber.
C. Screw or staple the Glass Rack Strip to the cart. Make sure the screws or staples are buried into the cart liner to avoid metal to glass contact. 4-5 strips per cart should be sufficient.
